A patent registration protects an invention by providing market monopoly over it in exchange of its disclosure to the public. A one-of-a-kind invention developed by a business is a great commercial asset that makes one stand out from others. Optional and advisable
It is advisable to conduct a worldwide Patent search before filing your application to the Registry. This is to check your invention is not within any claim of any existing Patent.
Claims, descriptions and drawings are required in the application for your Patent specifications.
Claims are what you are claiming under such registration- it lays out the scope of protection that you are entitled to. We spend extra care in drafting to maximize your right.
Drafting usually takes around 20 working days .
Upon finalizing the drafting, we will prepare your application and file it to the Registry.
After filing, there is request for substantive examination, which the Registry will examine your application to check if it meets the corresponding requirements. This stage may take up to 5 years until the Registry issue an examination report.
Short Term Patent requires no substantive examination before grant except an official search report and a much shorter time is expected for grant.
Note that if you intend to file your patent in other jurisdiction, you have 12 months from the date of initial filing to claim priority. You may consider applying for PCT if you intend to register in a large number of countries.
The Registry will issue you a notice of grant after the examination report. For which after paying the grant fees, the Certificate of Grant will be issued.
A Patent offers protection up 20 years from the date of initial filing, subject to renewal annually starting the second year of the grant.
Short Term Patent has only a maximum protection period for 8 years from the date of initial filing, subject to renewal on the 4th anniversary.

Before filing to the Registry your Trademark registration application- it is advisable to conduct a search on the existing registered Trademark. This assures the intended Trademark is registrable to avoid delay, extra cost and possibility of infringement of a third party's Trademark.
This is the stage to prepare and submit your application to the Registry. We will prepare for you the application requirements, liaise with the Registry for any amendment and objection etc.
This usually takes around 18 - 24 months before the acceptance from the Registry. You may apply for fast track at an additional fee if you satisfy the list of grounds set by the Registry, which will shorten the process time to around 7 months.
After acceptance from the Registry, your Trademark proceeds to advertisement on the Government Gazette for 2 months to serve as a grace period for opposition from any third party. We will monitor the progress and be able to advise you further if there is any opposition.
For there is no opposition, a certificate of Registration will be issued to you after the gazette period.
Trademark Registration lasts for 10 years from the date of Registration. (Renewable every 10 years for a fee)

Registered Design registration lasts for a maximum of 25 years from the date of registration, subject to renewal in every 5 years from the date of initial filing.
